The Job Search

Well, life is settling down enough to pause and give a quick update.

We love it here in North Carolina. KB and I have already made some meaningful connections with several couples and we are building great relationships with our neighbors. Our house is fantastic and we are haven’t gotten over all the extra space we have in comparison to our apartment existence!
KB is already working hard. Her current rotation only affords her with 4 days off for the entire month. In her first week she worked 70+ hrs. Aside from the shell shock, she is doing great!
I’m on the job search. I’ve secured a contract job through the middle of August but plan to continue searching for something more permanent while building our new network and making North Carolina feel more like home.
We do miss our fellow Texans, but have begun to adjust to the Eastern Time Zone and actually enjoy being able to exercise in the evening and clean in time to unwind with all the prime time shows at 8pm.
Of all the months to be unemployed this has been a great one with the World Cup filling the silence between resume submissions and interviews. I do start my job tomorrow though and will have to record the Brazil game so no one text me any updates or scores or I will have to block your number from now on! Just kidding, but seriously, don’t tell me the score.

After a fun-filled day of snow and Christmas decorations in Spring, Texas my mom’s house is officially ready for Christmas Day. KB and I made Spring, Texas our base camp for our quick trips to San Antonio and Temple. I could not resist a trial run at the time-lapse or interval feature on my camera and I pieced together a series of shots of us decorating the tree together while fluffy white flakes fell outside the window. Very idyllic. The next day, Darrell and I strung the lights up on the house while my mom and KB set the stage inside for a very Merry Christmas. I love my mom’s Santa collection. There are some classic Santas and some goofy ones! The Santa with the dog sums up our week this week playing with my mom’s dogs, Duke and Dusty.
